He is a learned man, but he is modest.
He is a Chinese, yet he doesn't speak the Mandarin better than Jack.
2、使用习惯差别but 是并列连词,而 yet 则可作并列连词或副词,不可说 and but,但可说 and yet, but不可放在句尾, 而 yet 可放在句尾;
例句:
but:
He is tired but happy.
They rushed to the hospital, but they were too late.
yet:
She said she would be late, yet she arrived on time.
She does not speak our language and yet she seems to understand what we say.
Kelly was a convicted criminal, yet many people admired him.
an inexpensive yet effective solution to our problem
a story that is strange yet true
-Have you finished your homework?'
-Not yet.
